Description:

The Dept of Aging provides services and information to older adults of Chippewa County. Any Chippewa County resident age 60 and older is eligible for programs and services. Services for Seniors include: Benefit Specialist, Congregate Meal Program, Home Delivered Meal Program, Transportation, Information and Assistance, Services Coordination, and Volunteer Opportunities.



DEPT. OF AGING: It is the policy of the Chippewa County Dept. of Aging to serve all participants 60 yrs. of age or older, without regard to race, color, national origin, sex, or handicap.



BENEFIT SPECIALIST: Helps people with issues involving private or government benefits. The Benefit Specialist is involved in ongoing training and is monitored by attorneys in Elder Law.



HOUSEHOLD CHORE SERVICE: Provides reimbursement for help with heavy household chores, seasonal cleaning, yard work, snow shoveling, minor home repairs, and shopping. Maximum reimbursement per household is $100.



TRANSPORTATION: Volunteer drviers are available county wide for essential transportation (medical appointments, grocery shipping, benefit related visits).



HOME DELIVERED MEAL PROGRAM: A person age 60 or older who is homebound by reason of illness, incapacitation, or disability, or who is otherwise isolated is eligible to receive a home-delivered meal.



NUTRITION PROGRAM: A person age 60 or older and the spouse of that person, regardless of age, are eligible to participate in the congregate meal program. Participants should make a dinner reservation one day in advance. Although no fee can be charged, participants are asked to make a reasonable donation to help defray the costs. All donations are confidential.



FAMILY CAREGIVER SUPPORT PROGRAM: Our Caregiver Coordinator can provide advice, guidance, and instructions regarding options to support caregivers.

- Information to caregivers about services.

- Assistance to caregivers in gaining access to services.

- Respite Care to enable caregivers to get temporary relief from their caregiving responsibilities.

- Supplemental Services, on a limited basis, to compliment the care provided by caregivers. Pre-authorization is required.
