Description:

The Milwaukee County Circuit Court system consists of 47 circuit court judges and 22 court commissioners, who process in excess of 150,000 case files per year. There are several ways to navigate this website.

One is to navigate the system by breakdown of responsibilities within the court system (i.e., Criminal, Civil, Children’s and Probate), or you can use Court Services Information. There you will find Preparing for Court, Juror Information, Judge Information, Court Information and Other Information, with links to the various topics within each section.

There are five divisions and two administrative sections: Children’s Division, Civil Division, Criminal Division, Jury Management, Probate, Administrative Services and the office of the Chief Judge.

Milwaukee Justice Center
The Milwaukee Justice Center uses volunteers to address the unmet legal needs of Milwaukee County's low-income unrepresented litigants through court-based programs and legal resources.

Sojourner Family Peace Center:
Our primary goals are to ensure the safety of victims of family violence and provide a pathway out of violence for victims and abusers through opportunities to make positive and lasting changes for themselves and their children.

Legal Action of Wisconsin
Equal justice should have no price tag for low-income people. Legal Action’s services are provided free of charge to clients.

Wisconsin Circuit Court Access
This website (WCCA) provides access to certain public records of the Wisconsin circuit courts. The information displayed is an exact copy of the case information entered into the circuit court case management system by court staff in the counties where the case files are located. The court record summaries viewed here are all public records under Wisconsin open records law.

Family Court Mediation Services
Milwaukee County offers mediation through Family Court Mediation Services in the Office of the Family Court Commissioner for custody and placement issues in family court cases filed in Milwaukee County. Mediation allows parents to meet with a neutral third party, or mediator, to work on solutions to the issues that bring them to family court. Mediation is reasonably priced, confidential and usually scheduled more quickly than a court date. In many instances, parents can work with a mediator to find a solution acceptable to both of them and reduce or eliminate the need for court appearances.

For Attorneys
Information for attorneys on civil scheduling, appointment of guardian, pro hac vice and probate matters.

Court Interpreter Services
Under current law, if a court determines that a person has limited English proficiency and that an interpreter is necessary, the court must advise the person that he or she has the right to a qualified interpreter at public expense in any type of case (criminal and civil).
