Section 49.30 of the Wisconsin Statutes authorizes counties to provide burial services, for persons who are receiving Supplementary Security Income (SSI) or some categories of Medical Assistance (MA). There are income and asset guidelines that must be met to qualify for the program. The amount available for assistance in burials is best determined by calling your local Department of Health and Human Services and asking for the Economic Support Unit.
