Description:
LeRoyer Hospice and Outpatient Palliative Care are both home-based programs focusing on maintaining comfort, providing emotional & spiritual support and improving the quality of life for patients and their families. Hospice care is for the terminally ill in the final months of life. In contrast, Palliative Care is provided more “upstream” and is appropriate for a much broader group of patients and, unlike hospice, may be provided at the same time as other potentially life prolonging treatments for the illness (such as chemo/radiotherapy or dialysis). Both hospice and palliative care offer a personalized plan of care, delivered by an interdisciplinary team that incorporates what is most important to the patient and family in order to achieve the best possible quality of life.
